1win, Liquid, and G2.IG Bow Out Of DreamLeague Season 22
Unfortunately, we bid farewell to three participants after the third day of DreamLeague Season 22.
After a horrendous 0-4 performance on the first day, G2.IG has been knocked out of the tournament. Ex-Klim Sani4 stack 1win has also expectedly finished last place. However, the biggest surprise was the second-place finisher at BetBoom DACHA, Team Liquid, was also eliminated from the event.
Here’s a quick recap of Day 3 of DreamLeague Season 22.
Group A
The BetBoom Team is the first team to qualify for the next stage with a clean record of 9-3. As mentioned earlier, the first team out of Group A is G2.IG, who has a score of 3-9. The Falcons are almost guaranteed to qualify for the Upper Bracket after going 8-4. The rest of the group is still in high contention, as they have either 5 or 6 points.
The day started with the Falcons winning a convincing 2-0 series against the Gladiators. Meanwhile, Heroic could steal a map off the BetBoom Team after a 64-minute victory. Azure Ray defeated G2.IG in the Chinese derby, which was crucial as the Kuala Lumpur champions were on the brink of elimination yesterday.
In the next set of matches, the BetBoom Team eliminated G2.IG after a 75-minute game, where JT’s Mars went for the one-shot build but got picked off and donated free Rapiers to the BetBoom Team. Virtus.Pro also took a map off the Falcons in their 1-1 series, giving them a decent shot at survival.
Overall, the final series is crucial for five teams in Group A, as only a singular point separates them.
Group B
Unlike Group A, the Group B standings are much clearer. Xtreme Gaming, Team Aurora, and Shopify Rebellion maintain their top position with 8-4 records. Despite having the best record, none of their promotion slots are secured yet.
Team Spirit is tailing behind 7-5, and Tundra Esports 6-6. Team Secret has 5 points, above 1win and Team Liquid, who are already eliminated. For Team Secret to have a chance at advancing, they must win their series 2-0 and have Team Spirit lose 0-2.
The first round of matches featured three ties between Tundra Esports and Team Secret, Xtreme Gaming and Team Aurora, and Team Liquid and Shopify Rebellion. At the same time, Team Spirit won their series 2-0 against 1win.
In the second batch, Team Liquid played against Tundra in a series where they must win both maps. However, Tundra defeated Nisha and the boys 2-0, resulting in an insufficient score to advance. 1win was put in the same situation as Team Liquid but lost the first map to Xtreme Gaming. The underdogs won the second game against Ame’s Phantom Assassin, but it still wasn’t enough to move on. Team Secret made an absurd comeback in the second game against Team Aurora, which kept their hopes and dreams alive in the tournament.
The top three teams, Xtreme Gaming, Team Aurora, and Shopify Rebellion, are guaranteed tiebreakers and have a meager chance of not making it through.
All teams only have one more series to play on Day 4, but more matches will be played if any tiebreakers are required.
