BLAST Slam I Group Stage Overview
The next big event is coming, as Blast Slam I is set to start on 26 November. The inaugural tournament features a prize pool of $1,000,000, and will be played in a LAN format in the BLAST studio. All teams have reached the destination safely. Here is an overview of the event’s Group Stage.
10 participants have been divided into two groups of 5. Here is how the groups were divided:
Group A:
Group B:
Though we are used to seeing most of the teams here, it will be exciting to watch how some teams like Heroic, Xtreme Gaming, and OG perform with their new rosters. Recall that Parker was recently kicked from the team, and Yuma will be standing in.
Here are the rules and format for the Blast Slam I Group Stage:
-
All matches are played in Best of 1 format.
-
No teams will be eliminated at the end of the Group Stage.
-
1st place teams will directly qualify to the Semi Finals.
-
2nd place teams will directly qualify to the Quarter Finals.
-
3rd place teams will be seeded to Round 2.
-
4th and 5th place teams are seeded into Round 1.
All matches being played in Best of 1 format makes these games more thrilling. However, there are less stakes since no team will be eliminated from the Group Stage like most Dota 2 tournaments we are used to seeing.
Still, the Playoffs stage for Blast Slam I is set to feature a handful of electrifying matches, as every series is played in a single-elimination format – there are no Upper and Lower Brackets as we are used to seeing. This creates a huge potential for teams to upset favorites and go all the way.
Blast Slam I is a Danish Dota 2 tournament distributing a prize pool of $1,000,000, which will be played in a LAN studio format. The event will run from November 26 to December 1.
