DLTV Best Player Awards Of 2023, Position 3: Third Place
Coming in at number three on our best Off Laners list is the backbone of the Gaimin Gladiators, Ace. The Danish player started his Dota 2 career 12 years ago, so his name has been around for a very long time.
He used to be a Carry player and played for seventeen different teams, including Cloud9, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Team Secret, and more. However, apart from a few Tier 1 victories with Team Secret, Ace was never as successful as in 2023.
It’s no surprise that last year was the best season Ace has had. I mean, just look at these results:
- 1st place The Lima Major 2023
- 1st place DreamLeague S19
- 1st place Berlin Major 2023
- 1st place DreamLeague S20
- 1st place The Bali Major 2023
- 4th place Riyadh Masters 2023
- 1st place BetBoom Dacha
- 8th place DreamLeague S21
- 2nd place The International 12
- 2nd place ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023
The Gaimin Gladiators played 320 maps and maintained a 66% win rate, and Ace was an integral part of the team’s success. In most games, he always takes the top net worth spot at the ten-minute mark, even if the laning matchup does not favor him.
Ace likes his “booster” heroes, such as Meepo, Lycan, Lone Druid, Broodmother, and Visage, making him a pain to play and draft against. Since most of Ace's heroes get banned in the drafting phase, his top three heroes were:
- Beastmaster (41 Maps, 61% Win Rate)
- Underlord (37 Maps, 86% Win Rate)
- Doom (30 Maps, 67% Win Rate)
In terms of individual statistics, let’s not doubt the Off Laner of one of the most successful lineups in Dota 2 history. Compared to other Off Laners, here are his stats:
- Top 4 KDA: 4.36
- Top 2 (Least) Average Deaths Per Game: 3.63
- Top 3 Average Last Hits Per Game: 291.88
- Top 4 Average Denies Per Game: 11.48
- Top 2 Average GPM: 577.73
- Top 5 Average XPM: 643.2
On January 19, Ace will turn 30, making him the oldest Off Laner in Tier 1, with s4 and iceiceice being older than the Dane.
