Down To Four: BOOM Esports and Team Liquid Sent Packing
Another set of Lower Bracket matches in the PGL Wallachia Season 1 tournament has ended. Unfortunately, we must say goodbye to BOOM Esports and Team Liquid, as they have lost their respective matches against Team Spirit and G2.iG.
Team Spirit 2-0 BOOM Esports
Despite being a heavy underdog, the BOOM Esports lineup looked incredible yesterday after a convincing 2-0 victory against the Gaimin Gladiators. However, Yatoro and the crew did not waste the opportunity of getting one of the easiest opponents left in the bracket.
In the first game, BOOM did relatively well in the early game, and Pakazs was finding a lot of net worth on his Naga Siren. However, Team Spirit laid out amazing Observer Wards, scouting all smoke attempts from the Peruvians. After dodging fights and delaying the game, Team Spirit’s cores went online and showed their superior coordination to win the map.
The second game was dominated by Team Spirit. SLATEM$ had a lot of responsibility on his mid Keeper of the Light, as he was required to set the tempo. However, he lost his lane, and the BOOM Esports squad began crumbling. Pakazs was getting picked off left and right, and the South Americans were forced to call an early GG.
Overall, the BOOM Esports lineup had a satisfactory run, ending their journey at a 5-6th place finish. Not bad at all.
Team Liquid 0-2 G2.iG
A series of misplays and overconfidence punished Team Liquid, as they let the series against G2.iG slip out of their hands.
G2.iG was off to a great start in the first map, but Team Liquid slowly recovered and made good pick offs to take control over the game. However, the Western European squad failed to crack G2.iG’s high ground, feeding kills and throwing Aegis advantages. Team Liquid was still in the lead, but Monet bought a Divine Rapier on Weaver and started shredding heroes, eventually winning the game after 55 hard-fought minutes.
Game 2 was heavily dominated by the G2.iG squad. Being an elimination game, the Chinese squad took things slow, choking Liquid out of their map and consistently building a net worth lead. miCKe attempted to solo carry the game on his Luna, but the gold difference was too significant. The Swedish carry ended the map 10/2/7 with 74,000 hero damage, but it was not enough to save his team from elimination.
Team Liquid share 5-6th place with BOOM Esports and will fly back home without making an appearance on the final day.
Team Spirit and G2.iG make it to the top four teams at the event, but the day does not end here. The two teams will play another match after the series between Team Falcons and Xtreme Gaming finishes.
