Eastern Europe DPC Recap: Major Teams And Relegated Teams
Division I of EEU is coming to a close on Monday, the 5th of June. Despite the season ending soon, the three representatives for the Bali Major and the teams to be relegated aren’t crystal clear yet.
Who’s Going To The Major?
Valve has provided EEU with three slots for the Bali Major. The first team to attend from the EEU region is Team Spirit. Spirit have completed a flawless 7-0 run in the Summer DPC Tour, meaning they will be booking flights to Bali and receiving 500 DPC points, projecting a TI qualification soon.
The next two slots are still in question. The three contenders include:
- BetBoom: 5-1 record
- 9 Pandas: 4-2 record
- Virtus.Pro: 4-2 record
Realistically, the BetBoom team have the best chance of being the second qualified team, as not only do they have the best record out of the three, but their last opponent is Nemiga, a team that is sitting around the bottom of the table.
Now, the fun begins, as 9 Pandas and Virtus.Pro are currently sitting with the same record. The two teams will be playing a head-to-head Best of 3 series against each other for their final match of the DPC Tour. The winner of this series is guaranteed to qualify for the Bali Major, and the loser will have to pray that BetBoom somehow loses their series to Nemiga for a potential tie-breaker.
Who’s Going To Division II?
No one wants to go to Division II, but the harsh reality is that two teams will be sent down. The guaranteed team to experience relegation is UALEIKUMNIHAO, with a 0-7 record. The team showed some promise by taking games off of 9 Pandas and Spirit but ended up bombing out all their remaining matches.
Like the final Major slot, the last Division II slot is also still undecided, with three candidates in the running:
- Nemiga: 2-4 record
- Hydra: 2-5 record
- One Move: 2-5 record
Hydra and One Move have already completed all seven matches for the DPC Tour and are sitting with a record of 2-5. A two-way tie-breaker between the two teams for relegation is imminent. However, Nemiga, with a 2-4 record, has the potential to join the two teams if they are to lose against BetBoom in their final series.
Nemiga’s final series of the Summer Tour will determine if there will be a two-way or a three-way tie-breaker to keep Division I dreams alive.
