EEE changes DPC league logo due to communist propaganda
Tournament organizer Epic Esports Events, which hosts the DPC: CIS Regional League, has announced a change in the tournament logo. Now the company's logo is used instead of a Pudge with a star in the background.
As the organizer noted, it was done at the request of Valve because the old logo, stylized as a badge of the USSR, could violate Ukrainian laws banning the promotion of communism.
SORRY, NO PUDGE
Recently we've received a request from Valve to change the tournament's logo, as it may potentially be in violation with Ukraine's law in regards to banning the promotion of communism.
The main task of Epic Esports Events is to ensure a seamless competition for all parties involved. Therefore, despite the already made gift sets, banners and other products containing the logo of the tournament, as well as the legal opinion confirming that the logo can not be considered a communist symbolism and, even more so, is not propaganda, we've decided to change the logo of the event.
DPC Winter: Regional Leagues run from November 29 to January 23. The CIS Upper Division participants compete for a total prize pool of $205,000, 690 DPC points and 3 slots to the Winter Major.
