Elite League Round-Robin Stage Day 3: Team Liquid Back To Winning Ways
The third day of the Elite League Round-robin Stage has produced some very interesting results. Entity Gaming had their 10-0 win streak ended by PSG Quest of all teams, and the TI winners continued disappointing their fans. Heroic managed to put a dent on Team Falcons’ armor, almost winning the series 2-0. Another notable development is Team Liquid has finally returned to form, slaying their demons, the Gaimin Gladiators, who haunted them throughout 2023.
Group A
The craziest match of the day was produced by the meeting of PSG Quest and Entity Gaming. As mentioned earlier, Entity remained undefeated in the Elite League, while PSG Quest had been struggling. The MENA squad stomped the first map, but the second was where all the action resided.
Game 2 was a back and forth game, with both teams exchanging gold leads. Near the end, Entity had built a hefty net worth lead and looked to take the map, but PSG Quest made an all-in play on Entity ’s throne and succeeded. TA2000 and company won the game despite being down almost 30,000 gold.
Heroic was a massive underdog in the match against Team Falcons, who seemed unbeatable. However, in the first map, Heroic pulled ahead and led by 11,000 gold. Unfortunately for South American fans, the lack of experience in the roster showed, as they fumbled their lead and allowed the Team Falcons to make a comeback.
Still, Heroic played incredibly well in the second. Their display of teamwork helped them take Map 2 and tied the series, handing the Falcons their second loss at the event.
Another unexpected result came from the match between Team Spirit and G2.iG. Team Spirit continued to struggle, as they were stomped 18-5 in the first map after a devastating JT- Lycan pick. In the second game, the Eastern European squad had a decent lead, but lost it after NothingToSay’s Zeus dealt 60,000 damage to drag his team across the finish line, winning 2-0. Keep in mind that G2.iG wasn’t even meant to play in the tournament, but they are now leading their group.
Group B
Team Liquid has started to look incredibly sharp at the Elite League, but they had to go through their arch nemesis, the Gaimin Gladiators, who had defeated them in almost every meeting last year. It looks like the Liquid roster woke up on the right side of the bed, as they dismantled the Gaimin Gladiators in a convincing 2-0 victory.
The long-awaited meeting of Pure and his former team was set. Was Pure the problem, or was he not? Unfortunately, the question could not be answered, as the BetBoom Team and Tundra Esports simply traded maps.
Xtreme Gaming also played against the Gaimin Gladiators. Game 1 was taken by the Gladiators, but we wanted to highlight the second game specifically. In Map 2, Ame put up a masterclass of a performance on his Drow Ranger. Despite being down 11,000 gold, the uncrowned king got six kills in the game-deciding Roshan fight to turn the game around for his team.
The current Group Stage standings:
The Elite League Round-robin stage will continue for three more days. At the end of it, four teams from each group will be eliminated.
