European squad Entity Gaming has finally bagged their first established trophy since the organization’s entrance to Dota 2. In the $100,000 1win Spring Series, watson and company defeated Virtus.pro in the Grand Final 3-1. Before the Grand Final, Team Spirit and Team Liquid played for third place.

Third Place Decider

At the start of the final day, the two tournament favorites found themselves in a match for third place instead of the title. The matchup didn’t mean too much, except for an extra $10,000 in prize money.

Team Spirit has not been looking in the best shape, which could be seen in the first map of the series. All three Team Liquid cores were given relatively “free” games and heavily outfarmed the entire Team Spirit squad. After 44 minutes, it was too much for the TI winners to handle, and they had to concede the first map.

In Game 2, Team Spirit looked much better, taking a substantial lead in the early stages of the game. However, due to some miscommunication and late BKBs, Team Liquid bounced back to make the game close. Still, Team Spirit reduced their mistakes and took the lead again. Though it took 69 minutes, the Eastern European squad could finally close out the second map.

In the decider, Team Spirit came out of the laning phase on top, but quickly lost their footing. Yatoro's Sven did not get anything going for him in the game, despite Larl and Collapse's best efforts trying to salvage the game. Team Spirit’s Carry player went 0/7 allowing Team Liquid to win the series 2-1.

Team Liquid finished in third place, while Team Spirit settled for fourth.

Grand Final

After the conclusion of the third place decider, Virtus.pro and Entity Gaming faced each other in the final.

The first map of the series started off close, with the net worth graph being dead even until the 24-minute mark. However, Virtus.pro found a great team fight and took control over the game. Despite a commendable performance from watson's Meepo, Kiritych’s Gyrocopter became too big to address, helping Virtus.pro take the first map after 44 minutes.

Virtus.pro’s laning stage in the second game turned out to be a disaster, as they were down a hefty amount of gold despite having an Alchemist in the team. Entity Gaming could slowly instill control over the map, outfarming Virtus.pro by a large margin. Though the game was drawn out, Entity Gaming eventually found the game-winning fight to even the score.

Entity Gaming continued the trend of winning the early game, as they were off to a flying start in the third map. The entire Entity Gaming squad was constantly making plays around the map and connecting together when needed. The result was a 41-minute victory with watson’s Terrorblade ending the game 20/1/12.

Seeing Sven picked on the Entity Gaming side, Virtus.pro went for an unorthodox Omniknight Carry pick for Kiritych, which did not pay off too well. Entity Gaming could once again win the laning stage and begin dominating the map thanks to No[o]ne-’s Ember Spirit who remained untouched. Though Virtus.pro showed signs of retaliation, the lead the Western European squad built was too large for any comebacks to occur. After 40 minutes of gameplay, Virtus.pro was forced to tap out and concede the series.

Entity Gaming finally won a tournament and was rewarded $50,000 for their victory. Virtus.pro finish second and was compensated with $30,000.
