Gaimin Gladiators and Team Tidebound Eliminated From PGL Wallachia S3
The second day of the PGL Wallachia Season 3 Playoffs has ended, as we’ve bid farewell to the first two teams within the top eight.
Team Tidebound faced off against Aurora in the Lower Bracket, winning with a score of 2 - 1. The spotlight has to be placed on Nightfall, who had two flawless games on the carry role. In the first map, he went 10/0/12 on Dragon Knight, and carried his team on the third map with a 17/0/8 on Phantom Assassin to win the series.
For the second Lower Bracket series, we had a Ti12 rematch between the Gaimin Gladiators and Team Spirit. Similar to yesterday, the Gladiators were off to a great start in the series, demolishing Team Spirit in the first map with a last-pick Broodmother. However, they lost their momentum in the following two maps to lose the match.
With these two results, Gaimin Gladiators and Team Tidebound exit PGL Wallachia Season 3 in 7th - 8th place, taking home $40,000.
Meanwhile, Team Liquid took their Upper Bracket series against Xtreme Gaming. In both games, the TI winners lost the early game, but played slow and steady Dota. With a clear superiority in late game teamfights, Team Liquid could secure the win 2 - 0.
Saving the best for last, the main highlight of the day was a rematch between Tundra Esports and Team Falcons. The former could take a pretty convincing win in the first map, but a back-and-forth 69-minute game helped Falcons tie the series. It seemed like Tundra ran out of steam as Falcons could easily stomp them in the third map to pull off the reverse sweep.
PGL Wallachia Season 3 is a $1,000,000 tournament held in Romania, Bucharest. The event will be played in a LAN format without a crowd. We’ll see Dota 2 action from March 8 to 16.
