Geek Fam and BOOM Esports Continue Their TI Run
Two Lower Bracket matches were played today in the SEA Regional Qualifiers for The International 2023. Geek Fam and BOOM survived and will continue their journey through the Lower Bracket.
Neon Esports 1-2 Geek Fam
Geek Fam had one of the easier opponents in the Lower Bracket, as they were tasked to face Neon Esports.
Though it started pretty close, Geek Fam eventually took the first map after a fantastic performance from Ulnit’s Sven. The Geek Fam carry player ended the game with a KDA of 18/0/8, a flawless game from the Romanian import.
In the second game, Geek Fam was punished for their cheesy Huskar last pick to counter Neon’s mid Ember Spirit. This time, Neon’s carry player, FortuneSoul, matched Ulnit's performance in Game 1 to carry his team to a tied series.
The deciding game was very back-and-forth, and fans were given some highly entertaining Dota. After lots of kill exchanges, another outstanding performance from Ulnit, this time on his Gyrocopter, helped Geek Fam cross the finish line and deny the upset.
Neon’s journey ends here, while Geek Fam has a date with BLEED in another elimination match tomorrow.
Army Geniuses 1-2 BOOM Esports
Two Indonesian organizations met in an elimination match in the Lower Bracket.
BOOM Esports mid-laner Yopaj displayed a star performance on his Earthshaker in Game 1. The Filipino ended the game 15/1/14 to help BOOM Esports end the game at only 31 minutes.
However, in the second game, a last-pick Broodmother from Army Geniuses caused problems for the BOOM side, as the Broodmother created enough space for the two other AG cores to have free games. All Army Geniuses cores heavily outfarmed BOOM Esports, and the Indonesian roster could tie the series after 47 minutes.
The third game was much closer, as the game felt almost dead even until the 38-minute mark, where BOOM Esports took a big team fight and propelled their lead. It became too much for Army Geniuses, as they were forced to concede the game and have their TI dreams crushed here.
BOOM Esports will play against Execration, where one of the two teams will be eliminated from the tournament.
