Official: Virtus Pro to not receive a direct invitation to The International 11
Last night Valve released an official statement regarding the distribution of DPC points in the race for The International 11 invitations. According to it, Outsiders (Virtus Pro) doesn't qualify directly for the championship, and the last invitation goes to Fnatic.
Statement from Valve:
We are aware of a discrepancy regarding how the DPC standings are calculated when compared to unofficial sources. The DPC website reflects the official standings for the 2021-2022 season.
According to Liquipedia and analyst Ben "Noxville" Steenhuisen, the Outsiders are 0.05 points ahead of Fnatic. That allowed the team to finish in 12th place and guarantee itself an entry to The International 11.
Valve's calculations are different. For every penalty a team receives, the rounding of points goes down. According to these calculations, Outsiders have 1,019 points, and Fnatic – 1,020. The EEU team has been penalized 3 times this season: the team played with a substitute in the Regional Finals in winter, and after that, they changed players twice during the season.
Thus, the Outsiders will play in the EEU Regional Qualifiers for The International 11. They are scheduled for September 3-18. The winner of the qualifiers receives a direct invitation to the main tournament of the year, and two other teams advance to the Last Chance qualifiers.
