OG and Gaimin Gladiators Eliminate Virtus.Pro In DreamLeague Season 22 Tiebreakers
A three-way tiebreaker was required to determine the final two advancement slots from Group A. The three teams in question were OG, Gaimin Gladiators, and Virtus.Pro. Unfortunately, the young Virtus.Pro roster fell short and lost both their Best of 1 matches, resulting in their elimination from DreamLeague Season 22.
The day was opened with a clash between the two Western European teams, ending with a confident OG victory. It started with a superb draft, and the execution supported it. Wisper, in particular, played an excellent game on Mars, winning his lane and making plays around the map to enable Timado and bzm to carry the game.
The next game was crucial for the Gladiators since they were down 0-1 in the tiebreakers. Losing the game against Virtus.Pro would result in their departure from the tournament. Fortunately for the Gladiators’ fans, Quinn’s pick of Huskar turned out to be a great decision, ending the game with a score of 11/0/10 – flawless. The North American posted more kills than the entire Virtus.Pro squad and took the win.
The final match featured OG and Virtus.Pro. The Eastern European team was put in a must-win scenario to force another round of tiebreakers. However, the game did not go well from the very beginning. Ceb’s Lion was pestering Kiritych’s Morphling, sniping him multiple times. While this was happening, Timado’s Luna was rapidly getting his core items and the Virtus.Pro roster couldn’t slow him down. Squad1x displayed a respectable showing on his Ember Spirit, going 10/3/6, but even that was not enough.
Virtus.Pro lost both matches to OG and theGladiators, meaning they would not advance to the next stage of the tournament. The two Western European teams will join six teams in the second group stage of DreamLeague Season 22.
DreamLeague Season 22 runs from February 25 to March 10 in an online format. 16 teams compete for a $1,000,000 prize pool and EPT points.
