Questions to the last week of the DPC Winter
The situation with the Winter Major remains unclear: we don't know whether it takes place. But even if it doesn't, the last week of the DPC Winter regular season will be interesting. We've prepared a few questions that it should answer.
Will Invictus Gaming retain the Upper Division slot?
Invictus Gaming, who finished 4th at The International 10, is in danger of falling to the Chinese Lower Division in the first DPC 2021/2022 season. After 5 games played, the team ranks 7th with a 1-4 statistic.
Invictus Gaming must win their 2 remaining matches to retain a slot in the Upper Division, and those will be battles against Team Aster and PSG.LGD, who are heading the table. In addition to wins, Invictus Gaming will have to hope for a poor performance from the other competitors, as this is the only way to count on tie-breaks.
Who will leave the DPC: SEA Upper Division?
Before the last competition week in Southeast Asia, we know the first team to leave the Upper Division — TNC Predator. The results of the last matches will determine another team. So far, we have 3 contenders: OB.Neon, Execration, and Motivate.Trust.
While Execration only needs to win their match against BOOM Esports to retain their slot, OB.Neon and Motivate.Trust will fight for survival. At the end of the week, one of these outcomes awaits us:
- 3-teams tie-breaks: OB.Neon, Execration, and Motivate.Trust;
- 2-teams tie-breaks: OB.Neon and Motivate.Trust;
- OB.Neon to leave.
Who will stay in the DPC: CIS Upper Division?
The closing regular season match of the DPC: CIS Upper Division, AS Monaco Gambit vs Mind Games, is important. The loser of it will fall to the Lower Division.
At the moment, both teams have a 1-5 statistic. The only team they both beat is Team Empire. For AS Monaco Gambit, leaving could mean its disbandment, as the organization's other team, Gambit Esports, is already playing there. It is not yet clear how to interpret this in terms of regional league regulations. For Mind Games, leaving means wasted money on buying a roster and a slot in the league from Team Unique.
How will the DPC: CIS Lower Division end?
There is an intrigue in the DPC: CIS Lower Division. 4 teams compete for 2 invitations to the Upper Division. The most interesting thing is that the schedule is set so that everything will be decided at the end of the season.
This week we'll have a face-to-face encounter between CIS Rejects vs Hydra and Winstrike vs V-Gaming. If CIS Rejects and Winstrike win, there will be 4-teams tie-breaks. At other times, there will either be 2-teams tie-breaks or no tie-breaks at all.
