Release of DOTA: Dragon's Blood Season 2 increased the online audience in the game's client
The Dota 2 client got a significant increase in audience in January. The average online and peak exceeded the numbers of May 2020 for the first time. The main growth factor is the release of the second season of the animated series Dota: Dragon's Blood. Statistics are taken from steamcharts.
The average January player count is more than 35,000 higher than December 2021. The game's peak online is higher by about 30,000 players. The last time Dota 2 showed comparable statistics were in May 2020. The highest peak online in Dota 2 was recorded in March 2016. At that time, it exceeded 1.3 million.
DOTA: Dragon's Blood Season 2 was released on Netflix on January 18, 2022. In the 5 days since its release, peak online numbers have increased by more than 120,000 people.
