SMG Wait In The Final, While BOOM, BLEED, and Execration Exit The SEA Qualifiers
Three big names in the SEA region have been eliminated from the SEA Qualifiers. The biggest winners of the day are Geek Fam and Team SMG.
BLEED 1-2 Geek Fam
BLEED Esports was the heavy favorite in the series against Geek Fam, but they failed to perform.
In the first game, Geek Fam had decent control over the game but made slip-ups to make the game close. Still, Geek Fam could close the first game in 50 minutes after a strong performance from Ulnit’s Sven, going 12/1/16.
BLEED stomped Geek Fam hard in the second game, ending it with a kill score of 27-3. However, BLEED couldn’t complete the reverse sweep as Geek Fam won the series thanks to Kokz’s Primal Beast going ham.
BLEED’s run ends here, and Geek Fam continue their journey to The International.
Execration 2-1 BOOM Esports
Execration versus BOOM is one of the most anticipated matchups today, and the series was interesting.
BOOM convincingly took the first game after BoBoKa’s Batrider made impressive rotations around the map to create space for the team. BoBoKa ended the game on 10/1/15 as a position four Batrider.
His performance couldn’t be repeated in the second game, as Execration quickly struck back after Natsumi’s last pick Phantom Lancer did not work out.
The final game was tight, with the net worth lead being completely even by 24 minutes. However, Execration broke the game open to win the series 2-1.
Execration has another match against Geek Fam while BOOM ends their DPC year here.
Team SMG 2-0 Blacklist International
No[o]ne and Team SMG continue to dominate the Southeast Asian region after defeating Blacklist International 2-0.
It wasn’t the most manageable series for Team SMG, as both games were relatively close throughout the mid-game. However, Team SMG executed team fights well and proved to be the better team today.
Team SMG made it to the Grand Final, one series away from qualifying for TI.
Geek Fam 2-1 Execration
Geek Fam continue to surprise everyone in the qualifier, as they have defeated the Filipino powerhouse Execration in 2-1 fashion.
All three games in the series were convincing stomps. Geek Fam won the first one after great performances from Ulnit and Kokz. Execration came back to the series after a 38-minute win in Game 2.
However, in the third game, the last-pick Drow Ranger in the hands of Palos did not pay off, as Geek Fam rolled over them to win the series 2-1. Narman had a fantastic showing on his position four Rubick, ending the game 15/1/14.
Execration is eliminated from the qualifier, while Geek Fam will play in the Lower Bracket Final against Blacklist International tomorrow.
