The Eastern European giants, Team Spirit, have defied all odds and won Riyadh Masters 2023. With their victory, they have been rewarded $5,000,000 for their efforts.
The Grand Final of the tournament featured Team Spirit against Team Liquid. Liquid is no stranger to making it to the top two, but the Gladiators have defeated them four times this year. Team Liquid convincingly won the first game of the Best of 5 series, but Team Spirit quickly struck back and won three games in a row to complete the 3-1 result. We witnessed MVP performances from Yatoro, who played exceptionally well in the Carry role.
Team Spirit has had a rough year, finishing near last place in all three Dota 2 Majors, but they made the last big event before The International count, as they have won the biggest event of the calendar year so far.
Support player Mira expressed his gratitude to the Team Spirit fans who have continuously supported them through the tough times in the post-game interview.
I want to thank all our fans because we’ve had a very rough season. We lost all the Majors and tournaments where we placed last, but they still messaged us, cheered for us, and supported us. That’s one of the reasons why we came back in this tournament super hard.
Team Spirit has now won The International with the highest prize pool, and with their win in Riyadh, the boys have also won the highest prize pool event that is not a TI. Team Spirit really turns up when millions of dollars are on the line. Let's wait and see how much money this year's TI will have to offer.
