Gladiators Stomp Entity; Team Liquid Upset Team Spirit
The Playoffs stage is finally here, and the first day kicked off with four Upper Bracket matches.
OG vs. Tundra Esports
The day started with a series between OG and Tundra Esports, where Ceb and Topson faced off. OG had a decent lead in the first map, but they lost their footing and got eaten up by Pure’s Broodmother.
In the second game, Pure went back for a second Broodmother pick again. The early game was back-and-forth, with both teams overextending and feeding kills. Tundra found themselves in a good position, until a 40-minute technical pause happened which delayed the match. After the pause, OG looked like they lost all their focus and lost in a few minutes.
Entity Gaming vs. Gaimin Gladiators
The matchup between the two Western European teams was the most evenly matched in the day, but the Gaimin Gladiators ended up making quick work of Entity Gaming.
The first map was super close until Entity took a disastrous fight with their Aegis and lost all their momentum to lose the game shortly after. In the second game, Kataomi` went for an interesting position four Faceless Void pick with the Time Zone facet, while DM played Phoenix in the offlane.
Unfortunately, the unorthodox picks did not work, and the Gladiators could finish the series 2-0 after a fast 31-minute victory.
Team Falcons vs. WBG.XG
We got to see a rematch between Team Falcons and WBG.XG. Sadly, this anticipated matchup didn’t have the most exciting games as all three games were stomps.
The two teams took turns demolishing each other. In every game, the losing team could not post more than 10 kills, which made the series relatively uninteresting.
Still, Team Falcons ended up taking the win and are on the right track to win yet another tournament.
Team Spirit vs. Team Liquid
After having a slow 2024 season, Team Liquid look like they are back in form, looking to become a top-three team like they were last year.
The boys in blue looked very good in the Group Stage, and replicated their performance against Team Spirit, stomping the TI winners in 2-0 fashion.
Throughout the entire series, Team Spirit never had a gold lead. Team Liquid displayed great team coordination and was overall the better team.
The four winners will continue their run in the Upper Bracket.
Meanwhile, the losers have been sent down to the Lower Bracket where they will play elimination matches tomorrow.
