Taiga Opens Up About Gambling Addiction That Affected His Dota Career
Ex-OG player Taiga left the team to take a break from competitive Dota 2 due to “mental health” problems. On his Twitter account, Taiga revealed what was happening in his life.
The Norwegian confessed to a gambling addiction that started after Ti11. He began betting on casinos and sports like football, basketball, and tennis. He did not mention anything about betting on esports.
He mentioned that he had lost more money than he had earned throughout his Dota 2 career in a span of a few months. Taiga’s tournament winnings have reached up to $650,000.
The position four player bottled everything up, hiding his addiction from his family and close friends, which made things even worse. He would stay awake the whole night to gamble, which affected his gameplay and stopped him from improving.
Now, he has built up the courage to tell his family and friends and is also going through therapy. Taiga is in a much better state and is ready to return to competitive play. He also mentioned that he has signed a contract with a team in another region, so we’ll get to see him back in action soon!
