Today, PGL, the tournament organizers responsible for the disqualification, has reverted their verdict and given American Goons their well-deserved slot back.
After PGL announced the disqualification of American Goons from the Closed Qualifier, many Dota 2 personalities were enraged by the tournament organizer's decision. North American personalities, including Quinn, ppd, Aui_2000, and MoonMeander, showed their support for the American Goons. Even Grin Esports, the team that knocked American Goons down to the Lower Bracket, showed their utmost support.
The manager of team American Goons, "logical," created a Reddit thread explaining the perspective of the team and their thoughts on the unfair ruling. In the thread, logical mentioned that their match against Grin Esports happened before Team GateKept's match against FartStudios, so the opponents American Goons will be facing have yet to be decided. He also mentions, "All players and personnel involved in this situation from the side of American Goons swear that they have never match-fixed."
A day later, PGL announced on Twitter that they will reassess their verdict, and American Goons would be reinstated with their Division II slot. Team GateKept will no longer be able to participate in the upcoming North American Division II Tour and will have to try again next qualifier.
