Azure Ray And Beastcoast Fly Home, Tundra And Gaimin To Top 3 - Bali Major Day 3

News
Published at: 2023-07-07 16:32:00

Two more teams bid farewell in the Bali Major, while two others have guaranteed top three. Azure Ray leaves the tournament after making way for PSG.LGD to advance, with Beastcoast being eliminated by the last CIS hope. Tundra Esports pull off an upset against Team Liquid, and Gaimin Gladiators again make it to the Top 3. Check out our detailed recap of Day 3 of the Bali Major!

Azure Ray vs. PSG.LGD

Unfortunately, the last two Chinese teams will have to knock each other out in the Lower Bracket. The series ended 2-1 in favor of PSG.LGD, who will be the last Chinese team in the tournament.

In the first game, Somnus and fy performed excellently, where both ex-PSG.LGD players were running around the map and constantly getting kills. The space created allowed Lou to have complete free farm on his Naga Siren, and Azure Ray could stomp the first game.

Map two was a closer affair between the two Chinese teams, as fans were treated to some back-and-forth Dota action. Ultimately, PSG.LGD had the better-scaling lineup, and shiro's Medusa was too big of a problem for Azure Ray. PSG.LGD was able to close the game out in the 41st minute.

In the deciding game, Tinker slipped through the drafting phase and went into the hands of NothingToSay. The third game was a total stomp in favor of PSG.LGD, and Azure Ray had to tap out early at 32 minutes, exiting the tournament.

9 Pandas vs. Beastcoast

Beastcoast had shown promising results in the Bali Major so far, but their run had to end here. 9 Pandas could convincingly take the victory against the last team from the Americas region to carry the torch for Eastern Europe.

The series' first game was incredibly entertaining, as both teams traded team fight wins throughout the game. With the game being extremely back-and-forth, the game went late, where Beastcoast had the superior late game draft with Parker's Medusa. The Peruvian boys could take the first game 60 minutes in, with an even kill score of 35 to 35.

After such a close first game, fans were expecting more amazing Dota from this series. However, 9 Pandas showed they were superior and stomped the second and third games to complete the reverse sweep.

Team Liquid vs. Tundra Esports

Tundra Esports has been unable to beat Team Liquid on LAN for a long time. Maybe the key was having Aui_2000 in the roster, as they finally defeated Liquid in the second round of the Upper Bracket.

Tundra went for a niche Wraith King pick for skiter against zai's Doom in the first game of the series. Team Liquid was ahead in gold, with an 8,000 net worth lead at 30 minutes, but Tundra could take a good team fight, pull the game back, and take complete control of the map. Tundra could farm the whole map and built a significant gold lead that helped them end the game in the 52nd minute.

In Map 2, Tundra had a disgusting draft with Broodmother, Visage, and Meepo. Despite all the cheese, Team Liquid demolished the laning stage and had an 11,000 gold lead at 20 minutes. Despite having such a huge lead, Team Liquid couldn't break Tundra's high ground and lost back-to-back fights, which allowed Tundra's cores to come back into the game. M1cKe's Bloodseeker didn't find the impact he expected to, and skiter's Broodmother began to shred through the Liquid heroes after getting his core items. A fantastic comeback secured Tundra Top 3 at the Bali Major with a stand-in.

Quest Esports vs. Gaimin Gladiators

Quest Esports and Gaimin Gladiators meet again for a Group B rematch in the Upper Bracket. Despite their best efforts, Quest was handed their second series loss in the Bali Major.

The first game of the series was a total outdraft in favor of the Gladiators, who got their hands on the infamous Naga Siren plus Disruptor combo. Quest could barely approach any team fight, and the Gladiators quickly dominated the game, putting them 1-0 in the lead.

The second game was another outdraft in the opposite direction. The laning phase was even for both teams, but once No!ob's Tiny got his Blink Dagger, Quest Esports started to pick up the pace and deny the entire map for the Gladiators. It was impossible for Gaimin to take a fight, as Quest heroes were always healthy thanks to TA2000's Healing Ward. GG was called at 28 minutes, and the series was tied.

Sadly, we didn't get a competitive game from this matchup, as Game 3 was a complete stomp from the Gaimin Gladiators. Quinn got his hands on his Templar Assassin, had a good lane, and snowballed the entire game. Quest had no chance, as they will be sent down to the Lower Bracket.
