DLTV World Rankings Update: The Gladiators Dethroned
The group stage of The International 12 ended a few days ago, shaking up the DLTV world rankings.
In our ranking, we take tournament achievements and current form into account. The team’s final placing in tournaments and the number of matches played for the year are analyzed.
Relevancy is also crucial, as points are awarded depending on the age and significance of recent events. Teams will receive more points for tournaments as less time has passed since the end of it and the tournament tier.
After maintaining the number one position for the entire year, Team Spirit finally took over the Gaimin Gladiators' number one rank. Team Spirit has won ten games in a row at The International 12, not dropping a single map. Though the Gladiators finished second in their group, they were handed a loss by Talon Esports and fell to the Lower Bracket, affecting their points in the world ranking.
Another change in positions involves the BetBoom Team and Shopify Rebellion. Both teams have lost points due to their lackluster performance in the Group Stage so far. However, Shopify Rebellion displayed a more disappointing showing as they barely made it out of their groups, causing them to lose more points than the BetBoom Team. Both teams will be starting their playoff run from the Lower Bracket.
The International 12’s Group Stage did not come without any upsets, as only five out of ten teams in the top ten are in the Upper Bracket of the tournament.
The remaining teams in the top ten have stayed the same, but teams such as Virtus.Pro and Keyd Stars have been jumping up the ranks at a rapid pace.
