G2.IG and BetBoom Team Fall Short, Gaimin Gladiators To The Final
The second day of the ESL One Kuala Lumpur main event has ended, and many things happened.
The first match of the day featured the BetBoom Team playing against the Chinese superteam, G2.IG. Coming into the matchup, the teams were based evenly, but the BetBoom Team showed they were on another level during the match.
JT got his hands on his trusty Meepo Off Lane in the first game, but the BetBoom Team didn't care. They took an early lead and ended the game in 36 minutes before Monet's Morphling could get online. The Chinese Carry ended the first map with a KDA of 1/2/0.
It looked like the second map of the series was a complete outdraft, and NothingToSay's Earthshaker being shut down in the early game did not help either. The BetBoom Team easily won the game, and NothingToSay had one of his career-low performances, as he ended the map 0/10/4. With this win, the BetBoom Team secured a matchup against Team Liquid, while the Malaysian representatives have been eliminated from the tournament.
The second series of the day wasn't an elimination one, as Azure Ray faced off with the Gaimin Gladiators in the Upper Bracket Final for a spot in the Grand Final.
Though the new Chinese roster has had some hype surrounding them, they were completely blown out. The first game ended in 28 minutes and the second in 30 minutes. The Gladiators stomped Azure Ray, and it wasn't even close to an entertaining match. Gaimin Gladiators are off to another Grand Final, while Azure Ray has one more shot in the Lower Bracket.
The BetBoom Team had to return for their second match of the day, facing Team Liquid for a spot in the Top 3. After their scary performance against G2.IG, fans thought the BetBoom Team had a really good shot at taking this series.
In Game 1, Team Liquid pulled out a Medusa pick for m1CKe, which was the second appearance of this hero after Azure Ray picked her and lost. The game was super even between the two teams, but a big team fight win for Team Liquid propelled them to win. Team Liquid should give a big shoutout to SabeRLiGhT, who performed exceptionally well on his Mars.
The second game also started relatively evenly, but m1CKe's Lifestealer eventually became too big for the BetBoom Team to handle. Additionally, Nisha and SabeRLiGhT had impeccable performances helping Liquid to survive in ESL One Kuala Lumpur.
Team Liquid's captain, iNSaNiA, was delighted with his stand-in's performance and fired some shots at Shopify Rebellion's coach, Bulba:
"Bulba, how do you lose with this man on your team?"
Now, only three teams remain. Team Liquid will play against Azure Ray, and the winner will play the Gladiators in the Grand Final.
ESL One Kuala Lumpur ends tomorrow, and the participating teams will take a share of the $1,000,000 prize pool. For more frequent updates, subscribe to our Telegram channel!
