Team Liquid Go Through Adversity And Claim The Aegis
After misclicking Gyrocopter in an elimination match at TI, the core members of Team Liquid have finally been rewarded with the Aegis after years of perseverance and hardwork. Despite not being the favorite of the tournament, the Western European squad had a flawless run to the Aegis, not dropping a single map throughout their entire Playoff run.
Team Liquid secured over $1,000,000 in prize money and have been immortalized into the history of Dota 2. This marks the first TI win for the entire roster except for 33, who became the first player in history to win 2 TIs playing on completely different rosters.
However, this does mean that the organization has bagged its second TI win, with Miracle-’s iteration taking the trophy at The International 2017.
The championship roster includes:
Continuing their dominating run through the Upper Bracket, Team Liquid completely dismantled their arch nemesis, the Gaimin Gladiators, when it mattered the most. After losing to Quinn and company for pretty much the past two years, Team Liquid could win the Grand Final series after a 3-0 stomp.
In all three games, Team Liquid first-picked Nature’s Prophet Carry for miCKe with full confidence. However, Boxi was clearly the MVP of the series on his Tusk, saving his teammates and setting up kills on numerous occasions.
Unfortunately, this does mean that the Gaimin Gladiators remain without an Aegis in their trophy cabinet. Last year at The International 2023, the Gaimin Gladiators also made it to the Grand Final, but lost 0-3 to Team Spirit. They are now 0-6 in TI Grand Finals.
The International 2024 ran from September 4 to 15 in Copenhagen, Denmark, and was played in the Royal Arena. The tournament has now ended, and the next event to look out for is PGL Wallachia Season 2.
