ESL One Malaysia 2022 may feature 1v1 tie-breaks

Tournament organizer ESL has added an interesting rule regarding tie-breaks after the group stage of ESL One Malaysia 2022. This will be a single 1v1 solo mid game. To activate this option, several events must converge:
- Head-to-head record between the tied participants taking only game score into account.
- Number of 2-0 series in the league in general.
- Record vs. the first team below the tied teams, continuing to each subsequent team below the tied teams til the tie is resolved.
If all of these points are met, the teams will have to choose a player and 3 heroes for the tie-break. The order of selection will be decided by the flip of a coin. The winner of the match will be the one who first makes 2 kills, or takes down a T1 tower.
ESL One Malaysia 2022 takes place August 23-28 at the Genting Highlands Entertainment Complex in Malaysia. It features 12 teams from around the world competing for the $400,000 prize pool.
