PGL Arlington Major plugin controversy
Dota 2 Tooltips plugin for Twitch has been the subject of online controversy. The tournament organizer created a copy of the plugin and uses it on the broadcasts of the major.
One part of the community accuses them of plagiarism, while another supports them due to the expensive fee for the plugin.
Ben "Noxville" Steenhuisen accuses PGL of plagiarizing and creating a copy of the existing plugin from SUNSfun and bukka. According to him, such solutions don't allow the Dota 2 community to develop.
Mark Averbukh pointed out that the creators of the original plugin want from $5,000 to $15,000 per tournament, and probably developing their own plugin was cheaper for PGL.
Dota 2 Tooltips adds interactive elements to the game on Twitch. They allow users to see information about heroes, abilities, and skills right on the broadcast.
