Team Spirit, the winner of the previous world championship, lost to BOOM Esports in the lower bracket of The International 11 Playoffs and left the tournament. The EEU team finished 13-16th and earned 1.5% of the prize pool.
Before the start of the playoffs, bookmakers highly rated Team Spirit's chances of winning. Even though they started from the lower bracket of the standings, the odds of a championship were from 8 to 10.
The International 11 takes place October 15-30. It features 20 strongest teams from around the world. All of them fight for the impressive prize pool, which currently stands at $16,952,867. Battle Pass sales in Dota 2 continue to increase the prize until the end of the championship.
