Steam and Dota 2 blocked in Indonesia
Last night the Steam client, including Dota 2, was blocked in Indonesia. It is reported that the blocking was carried out by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology of the country.
Previously, a law came into force in Indonesia, requiring large IT companies to register and be accredited by the local authority Kominfo. However, Valve failed to do so, and since July 30, access to its games has been blocked.
Kominfo CEO Semuel A. Pengerapan:
If Valve doesn't register by July 29, 11:59 p.m., their service will be blocked nationally. Therefore, I apologize in advance to the public for the inconvenience caused.
Until Valve completes registration, access to the service will be blocked in Indonesia.
In the DPC: SEA Summer Tour, there were 11 Indonesian players, 7 of whom played in the Upper Division and 4 in the Lower Division. At the moment, many of them were preparing for regional qualifiers for The International 11, which will be held after PGL Arlington Major 2022.
